2012 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R - Overhaul last year, the ZX-10R bristles with the latest technology, including the Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control, lifting it above all others in its class. Kawasaki engineers invented a machine that produces a surprising amount of horsepower.

Traction Control Sport-Kawsaki highly advanced and customizable allowing the rider to utilize and take advantage of the ZX-10R stunning blend of power and responsive handling. This system is called Sport-Kawasaki Traction Control, or S-KTRC.
MotoGP-derived S-KTRC system works with a number of different numbers of parameters and sensors – speed and wheel slip, engine rpm, throttle position, acceleration, etc. There’s more data collection and analysis going on here than on any other Kawasaki in history, and it’s all in the name of helping racers inch closer to the “edge” maximum traction elusive than ever. S-KTRC system relies on complex software buried in the Electronic Control Unit ZX-10R is (ECU), additional hardware is only a minor speed sensor located at each wheel.
S-KTRC system offers three different modes of operation, the rider can choose according to surface conditions, rider preference and skill levels: Level 1 for max-grip track use, Level 2 for intermediate use, and Level 3 for slippery conditions. A graphic LCD in the instrument cluster displays how much electronic intervention occurs in real time and a thumb button on the left handlebar pod allows simple, on-the-go mode changes.
The system also includes advanced Power Mode system that allows riders to choose the amount of power – and the character of delivery – available from the engine. In addition to the standard power mode Full Medium and Low settings. The mode is, the performance varies according to throttle position and engine rpm, at something less than 50 percent throttle opening, performance is essentially the same as in low mode; in more than 50 percent, motorists can access additional engine performance. The third S-KTRC settings are available in any three Power Mode setting.
ZX-10R engine is a powerful 16-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled 998cc inline-four displacing over 76 x 55mm bore and stroke dimensions. Powerplant is tuned to optimize the delivery of power, center of gravity and actual engine placement in the chassis. Peak torque rpm range that helps eliminate power peaks and valleys that make it difficult for racers and track-day riders to open the throttle with confidence. The main purpose of the Kawasaki engineers is linear power delivery and engine management of all elements of the corner: the entry, return to the neutral throttle in mid corner, and heady, controllable acceleration at the exit.
Large intake valves are fitted with wide, polished intake ports allows for controllable power delivery and engine braking, just the thing for a smooth corner entries and exit the racetrack. Constructed from chromoly steel camshaft further contribute to optimized engine braking and more controllable power delivery. Lightweight piston mounted for lighter and stronger connecting rods. 13.0:1 compression is full.
A secondary engine balancer assembly allows a number of vibration-damping parts to be simplified, contributing to weight savings. Also contributing to weight savings is a lightweight battery, ECU and fuel pump.
A race-style cassette transmission allows simple ratio of the change trajectory. A clutch assembly adjustable back-torque limiting features, allowing worry-free downshifts and corner-entry calmness.
Cramming all that fuel and air into the engine is amazing is a ram air-assisted fuel injection system featuring a large throttle body (47mm) and sub-throttle valve, a large capacity airbox (9 liter), the secondary injectors improve top -end power characteristics, and the ram-air intake is positioned close to the big bikes to fill the front of the airbox and power efficient.The final part of power-production formula ZX-10R is a race-spec exhaust system featuring a titanium header assembly, hydroformed collectors, a large volume of pre-chamber containing two catalyzers and a very compact silencer. Because it’s a race-spec header design rider, and racer looking for performance over a closed course only need to replace the slip-on muffler assembly.
With the engine produces large amounts of power that can be used and controlled, engineers are looking into the chassis to help improve handling and overall road / track competency. Aluminum twin-spar is assembling an all-cast of only seven who have flexible characteristics optimized for the ideal rider feedback, cornering performance and lightweight. Like the frame, alloy swingarm is assembling an all-cast, with a stiffness that matches the frame itself.
Chassis geometry offers excellent stability and speed of treatment. Geometry of the front end – with a sweep at 25 degrees and trail at 107mm (4.21 inches) – allowing a light, quick handling and power complete machine controlled and flexible characteristics of the frame and the swingarm.
Highly advanced suspension at both ends helps as well. In front is a 43mm version of the open-class of the Big Piston Fork (BPF). Piston design featuring nearly twice the size of a conventional cartridge forks, the BPF offers smoother action, less stiction, lighter and improved damping performance in compression and rebound circuits.
Suspension of duty on the ZX-10R will be handled by Back-Link Horizontal design that puts the relationship on the shock and swingarm. Benefits include mass centralization, implementation of good roads, obedience and stability, smooth action on the overall feedback and good mid-stroke. Shock has fully adjustable piggyback reservoir and dual-range (low and high-speed) compression damping.
Lightweight gravity-cast three-spoke wheels complete the tire fitment. In front,Tokico radial-mount calipers grasp 310mm petal discs and 220mm rear disc is squeezed by a lightweight single-piston caliper at the rear. The result is a powerful, responsive braking a lot of rider feedback.
Curved edges and the black color and the contrast makes images sharp, aggressive. Line-beam light fairing graces while LED turn signals integrated into the mirror assembly. Convenient turn-signal couplers allow easy mirror removal for track-day use. Rear fender assembly holding the rear rod signal and license plate frame is also easily removable for track days. High visibility LED lights are also used for rear lamps and marker positions.
Instrumentation is highlighted by the LED-backlit tachometer bar graph is set above the multi-feature LCD info panel with various parts and data. A variety of information presented, including vehicle speed, odometer, dual trip meter, fuel consumption, Power Mode and S-KTRC level, low fuel, water temperature and more. For track use, the LCD display mode can be set to “race” that move the teeth into the center of the screen display.
Ergonomics of the ZX-10R is designed for optimal comfort and control. A 32-inch saddle, adjustable footpegs and clip-ons mean that this is a hard-core sport bike you really can take on an extended trip sport – and still quite comfortable doing it.
Ninja ZX-14 sets new performance standards with the acceleration, the most remarkable is jaw-dropping you have ever experienced. But what makes the Ninja ZX-14 even more remarkable is the absolute finesse with which commanded this force.
