BMW Motorrad now continue the success story section of the GS with the latest version of the two successful enduro models: F 700 GS and F 800 GS. As usual, BMW Motorrad has faced the challenge of taking something that is already good and make it better, consistently focused on building the strength characteristics of the GS in perfecting the concept.
The new 2013 F800GS combines road and suitability for use on tour with superior off-road quality, bringing two worlds together into a level not previously seen in this class of motorcycle. Instead, the new F 700 GS is more geared towards motorcyclists that do not need quite the same level of off-road expertise. Strength is the height of the lower seat, all-round ability for everyday use and more than enough power while also offering exceptional economy.
Both the F 700 GS and F 800 GS continues to draw their power from, typically 4-2 valve liquid-cooled 798 cc cylinder, electronic fuel injection, closed-loop catalytic converter and a 6-speed gearbox. Its spontaneous response, the appeal of an impressive and low fuel consumption is what gives a particular charm. Another feature that is unique in serial production motorcycle manufacturing is based on the mass balance of additional connecting rod. This compensates for inertial forces first and second-order, make sure that the 2-cylinder engine runs with low vibration levels. In the 2013 F800GS, the unit provides 63 kW (85 hp) at 7500 rpm, maximum torque 83 Nm at 5750 rpm.
